Soybean breeding and genetics program at NCSU

The main breeding objective of this program is to develop new and improved high yielding conventional and Roundup Ready soybean varieties adapted to NC environments and resistant to soybean cyst nematode races 2 and 4.

The main research objective of this program is to incorporate new information generated by different areas of research such as molecular markers, gene sequence information, molecular genetics, QTL mapping, pedigree analysis, RNA microarrays, mixed models analysis, BLUPs, and new experimental field designs to better detect and estimate QTL and to design more efficient breeding strategies for agronomically important traits in soybean.
