Turfgrass Breeder

A 12 month, tenure track appointment, Turfgrass Breeder, is available in the Dept. of Crop Science at NC State University. The individual will be responsible for developing a comprehensive, nationally recognized program of turfgrass improvement that includes cultivar releases. The individual will be expected to interact with turfgrass physiologists, pathologists, entomologists, and molecular biologists at NCSU and other public and private organizations to complement ongoing programs of turfgrass research and improvement.

The position will be supported by the NC Agricultural Research Service, but extramural funding will be necessary to establish a nationally recognized program. The individual is expected to conduct a productive research program and participate in academic programs of the Crop Science Department, including graduate student training. Ph.D. in Plant Breeding, Genetics, Crop Science, or related field is required. The successful candidate will be able to bridge applied plant breeding with molecular and biotechnology approaches for the improvement of turfgrass species. Experience with turfgrass systems is desirable, but not essential.
