  Crop Science Academics

Crop scientists seek to improve the productivity, profitability, sustainability and quality of our major food, feed and fiber crops, enhance the quality of our turf and vegetative covers and improve the nutrient and economic health of citizens in our state, nation and world. Crop Science is an exciting field with a great diversity of career opportunities.

Our faculty and staff realize that we must maintain a versatile and responsive educational program to train tomorrow's leading crop scientists. We offer undergraduate and graduate degree programs that provide highly trained individuals at all levels of our very diverse discipline.

  • Students wanting a Bachelor of Science degree have curricula in Plant & Soil Sciences and in Turfgrass Science from which to choose
     
  • For students wishing to gain technical expertise in crop science, Associate of Applied Science degrees in Field Crops Technology and Turfgrass Management are available through our department and the Agricultural Institute within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
     
  • Advanced programs leading to Master of Science (M.S.), Master of Crop Science (M.C.S.), or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.) degrees are available in many areas including agroecology and sustainable agriculture, plant breeding and genetics, crop physiology and biochemistry, crop management, weed science, and turfgrass science.
